CONSULTANT in Neuroradiology (Interventional) at UNIVERSITY COLLEGE LONDON HOSPITALS NHS FOUNDATION TRUST
Applications are invited for a replacement full time position in The Lysholm Department of Neuroradiology at The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, UCLH NHS Foundation Trust with sessions at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Trust.
We are looking for a talented and motivated individual to join our friendly multidisciplinary teams and to support the ongoing expansion of interventional neuroradiology services in two of London’s premiere Teaching Hospital Trusts. A recognised fellowship or appropriate consultant experience in interventional neuroradiology is a requirement as is a preparedness to undertake work in all aspects of acute adult neurointerventional work including acute stroke and in aspects of paediatric neurointervention with appropriate suppory. The appointee will be expected to have a track record in research and take a leading role in interventional neuroradiology research on both sites. An interest in spinal interventions and management of head and neck vascular malformations will be an advantage.
The successful candidate will join a team of 14 adult diagnostic neuroradiologists and work within a team of 6 adult neurointerventionalists and a subgroup of 3 paediatric neurointerventionalists. She or he will be fully supported by a thriving and friendly department and will be encouraged to take forward academic developments within the Neuroradiological Academic Unit.
Major refurbishment and redevelopment of the department was completed in 2009 and the Neuroimaging Analysis Centre was established in 2012.
The department is equipped with 1.5 T MR, two 3 T MR, 128 slice CT, biplane DSA, and an Interventional MRI suite with a surgical table and a DSA.
A Gamma knife has been installed in 2012.
Candidates must be eligible for full GMC registration and either already be on the Specialist Register or be within six months of receiving their CCT in Clinical Radiology at the time of interview. Essential qualifications for this post include at least one year subspecialty training in neuroradiology in a recognised centre. The post is offered on a whole-time basis (10 Programmed Activities, on – call 1 in 12 for diagnostic neuroradiology.)
